Sunday, February 14, 2010. Americans in general are reading less Teens and young adults are barely reading. Few students read books not assigned. Rarely do they seek reading material for fun. The study also found that on average, Americans ages 15 to 24 spend almosttwo hours a day watching TV, and only seven minlutes of their daily leisure time on reading. Given the fact this study is several years old, the new fad of texting and facebook could be added as diversions.
